Christmas season is well and truly on its way now as Winter Wonderland opens its gates and Taste of Christmas promises foodie delights beyond turkey and all the trimmings.
Winter Wonderland
The popular Winter Wonderland takes over a corner of Hyde Park again from 23 November. This free attraction has a European feel and something for all ages, with ice skating, fairground rides, a big wheel, traditional gifts for sale and copious amounts of festive food and drink. 23 Nov-5 Jan
Taste of Christmas
If you’re looking for fine dining this festive season, head over to Taste of Christmas festival at its new home of the Tobacco Docks. Taste dishes from some of the capital’s finest restaurants and watch celebrity chefs display their skills on stage, including Michel Roux Jr, Mark Hix, Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall and Masterchef’s Monica Galetti. 21-24 Nov
Santa’s 5D Grotto at Westfield London
Kids can meet Santa Claus in five dimensions this winter at both Westfield shopping centres. Children will be treated to the animated story of Elbow the Elf, who saves Christmas. As well as a 3D visual experience the extra dimensions of wind, lights and elf dust make this a different grotto experience altogether. Kids receive a free gift from Santa and have the opportunity to feature in the Elbow the Elf film. 21 Nov-24 Dec
London Jazz Festival
This weekend is your last chance to sample the London Jazz Festival, which closes on Sunday evening. There are a whole host of musicians and events dotted across the capital, but head down to the Southbank Centre over the weekend to be sure to catch some jazz. Closes 24 Nov
Henry V
The latest play from the star-studded Michael Grandage Company’s first season sees Jude Law take on the eponymous role as the King of England at the Noel Coward Theatre. Shakespeare’s historic epic deals with Henry V‘s struggles to maintain power and control during the bloody Hundred Years’ War with France. 23 Nov-15 Feb
From Morning to Midnight
This play at the National Theatre opens on 19 November, just in time to catch it over the weekend. Considered the German playwright Georg Kaiser’s expressionist masterpiece, From Morning to Midnight remains relevant today as it charts what happens when an ordinary man steps out of his bourgeois lifestyle for something more exotic, and dangerous. 19 Nov-15 Jan
